Modify Your Xbox – Are You Ready To Enter The Xbox Danger Zone?
Choosing to modify your Xbox 360 or Xbox comes with a few risks, but is often worth undertaking. The risks involve voiding your warranty or damaging your Xbox. The reward is in saving money and adding features not otherwise available. Here are some of the top modifications you may want to consider.
1. Converting your Xbox 360 into a laptop. This is one of the most risky conversions you can do to your Xbox. You will be gutting the entire system and converting it into a portable game playing monster. The reward is being able to take your Xbox 360 anywhere.
2. Modifying your Xbox or Xbox 360 case. This is one if the least risky and most rewarding modifications. 3. Flashing the DVD Firmware. This simple to do modification can allow you to start playing backup games avoiding one of Microsoft’s common schemes to stop you from creating backups. The negative side of this modification is the fact it is detectable in the Xbox Live environment and may ban you from playing online.
4. Xlink Kai is one of the best Xbox modifications you will ever do. You can break away from being restricted to playing against only other Xbox owners and open up the world to playing against Playstation, PSP, and Gamecube owners. Xlink Kai gives you greater options in your online play bypassing Xbox Live. This is an easy modification with no great negative side effects.
5. Accessories are the number one Xbox or Xbox 360 modifications. While you may have never thought of them as modifications, all of those add-on devices like wireless controllers, remote controls, text messaging kits, wireless headsets, and external storage are easy safe modifications to make to your Xbox. They give you enhanced game play without voiding the warranty.
6. Soft-modding your Xbox to turn it into a Multimedia Center. Many of the earlier versions of the Xbox could be booted up with versions of Linux which allowed them to be used as great multimedia centers. Other forms of soft-mods have been developed to extend the multimedia features of the Xbox and 360. Soft-mods have the large advantage of being reversible, where hardware modifications are permanent.
Choosing to modify your Xbox while having a few minor risks is filled with many rewards. If your Xbox or Xbox 360 is still under warranty start off with the safer modifications which do not change the hardware to protect your warranty coverage.
